1) Players Eligible for FAAB Bidding
A) A player must be in the player pool on CBS before a bid can be started on him. He must also show active in the NL on one of our four Official Sites before the bid ends. The websites are ESPN = CBS
= MLB = Rototimes The player must be on the exact link that shows previously. Not just on a page somewhere in the site. -- If a player does not show on one of the Official Sites but plays in a game, he shall be considered activated for our purposes as of that day. The player must show active either on one of our sites or play in a game while the FAAB is activated.B) A player activated from the Minors, the AL, the DL or any other inactive list, regardless if he has current year NL stats, must be bid on until two calendar days ending at 8 PM have passed (approximately 48 hours). Example -- The player enters the NL on Tuesday, he must be bid on until 8 PM Thursday. At that time he may be picked up as a DL / ML replacement player.
C) The CBS site is set so that a player must be a free agent for one full day before he can be bid on. Example == The FAAB is started at noon Tuesday and will run Thursday at 12:07 AM CT. Any player dropped on Wednesday will not be eligible to be bid on in this run. If you should bid on such a player you will note that on your ADD/DROP screen an Auction Date will be put next to the players name that is the following week.
2) Procedure for Using FAAB
A) If you wish to bid on a player, post a message that asks the Commish to turn on the FAAB. No players name is necessary. The FAAB may only be requested to be turned on before noon on any given day (12:01 AM to 11:59 AM). It will then run the next day at midnight, (example, turned on Tuesday morning, runs Wednesday midnight). -- The only exception to this rule is when Poaching a player. An Owner may request a player be dropped from an Owners roster immediately after 8 PM, however the FAAB will not be started until the next morning. The Commish will turn on the FAAB and post a message as to what day it will run. == If an Owner Poaches a player and no Owner bids on that player, the Poaching Owner will be charged a Move. When bidding on a player, you must indicate who you are dropping or putting on the DL or ML should you win. The only exception to this is if a player on your team has recently been put on the DL or sent to the Minors and CBS has not updated their site, but the player is on one of our four Official Sites. In this case you need only put who you are bidding on and should you win the player, then post a message asking the Commish to make your DL / ML move for you.
3) After FAAB Has Been Started
A) When a message has been posted to activate the FAAB, all DL / ML moves must be posted to the Message Board as if the FAAB were actually activated. If any DL / ML player is picked up between the time of the Message Board post to start the FAAB and the actual start, the transaction will be reversed. The only exception to this is if the FAAB has run and a second request is posted within a few hours to activate it again. It will not be started until 10 AM to give owners time to make DL / ML moves. No players that were dropped in the previous FAAB may be picked up.
B) All DL / ML replacement player moves posted to the message board will be backdated to the Message Board date and time. If you wish to indicate a first and second choice for your DL / ML pickup, in case your DL / ML player is won in a bid, this will be allowed. If you post a DL / ML player replacement message, then later decide to include the DL / ML replacement player in your FAAB bid, that is allowed. If you win the bid it will make your Message Post Void.
C) If you want to increase your bid on the same player, that is allowed. The system will use your highest bid.
4) Ties In FAAB Bidding
A) If there is a tie for high bid, the FAAB tiebreaker automatically breaks the tie. The FAAB tiebreaker will be set to the reverse order of standings for the previous year at the start of the season. Everytime an Owner wins a bid, he will move to the bottom of the list and everyone that was below him moves up a notch. It will continue this way all season.
5) Penalties When Using FAAB
A) If an Owner should request that the FAAB be activated and no bid is made by anyone, that Owner shall lose one of his Moves.
B) If an Owner should win a bid on a player with an "Illegal Move", such as going over the salary cap or not having any moves left, that player may not be picked as a DL / ML replacement player until an additional "2 calendar days ending at 8 PM" have passed. This is to give everyone a chance to start the FAAB and bid on the player.
C) If an Owner wins a bid on a player that either does not show on one of our four Official Sites as being active in the NL or has not played in a game, the bid is VOID, the Owner loses the Move and his position in the FAAB tiebreaker order remains as the system has put it after the bid.
D) After every FAAB player add/drop, all 23 positions must be correct per our rules. An Owner will be given an opportunity to move players to different positions to make the roster legal. If this can not be done, it will be considered an illegal move. The add/drop will be reversed and the move will still count among the 12 for the season. The Owner loses the money bid and his position in the FAAB tiebreaker order remains as the system has put it after the bid. The Owner may not bid on the player in the next FAAB run where he is available.
